Ah, yes, the Southern California climate makes it easy to be outside with our friends and family. ☀️
Unfortunately, mosquitoes love it when we're outdoors, too. When mosquitoes bite, they can leave embarrassing, itchy welts and possibly make you sick.
We all have a part to play to keep mosquitoes away.
Mosquito control is a shared responsibility. 🚫🦟
Mosquito control staff will monitor and treat public sources, such as gutters and rivers, but we need residents' help around the home.
Three ways to stop mosquitoes
- Tip out stagnant water weekly - This stops mosquitoes' life cycle from completing in stagnant water.
- Reduce/clear dense and non-native vegetation -- Vegetation such as ivy, and dense bushes can provide cool, humid resting places for adult mosquitoes. Non-native plants such as bromeliads can hold water in its central cups, which can be used by mosquitoes to lay their eggs.
- Protect yourself and your family with repellent.
